If Craigslist staff think they detect overposting or other spamming behavior in your Craigslist activity, they may prevent you from posting or renewing a certain ad.
They also have been known to "ghost" an ad. This happens when a free ad you post or renew appears to duplicate other ads, and therefore looks like spam.
The ad is then "ghosted," or barred from actually going live on the site, even though all other indications say that the ad is indeed live. To fix a ghosting problem, or if you want to be extra-careful to prevent ghosting, take a few simple steps.
First, if you've already posted an ad that you think has been ghosted, delete that ad. Then delete any Craigslist cookies from your computer. Select the type of posting and category for the post. Fill in any additional fields, like "Price" and "Location". Submit the post onto Craigslist. You can use the same procedure to post the same ad in different cities or to list additional items in the same city in different categories.
By: Reader Sponsored Link. Craigslist always had a rule that you can only list for free in a specific category once every 48 hours.
I list in several categories every 48 hours, but only one item in each. This rule used to be in their terms. I cannot seem to find this rule anymore on their site. I emailed them twice and received no reply. I'd hate to list more than one item in a category only to find out they are blocking them. Do you know how I can find the answer to this? Any Advice on Craigslist Listing Limits? Following these posting rules are essential: If you post too often or post similar ads in different locations too close to one another, the ads will be blocked. This is commonly referred to as "ghosting. This happens without Craigslist ever notifying the user. Enough ghosted ads can even result in your account being blocked entirely.
Craigslist ghosts ads in an effort to cut down on spam. Unfortunately, you have little recourse to address the issue with the site if your ad or account is blocked. The best bet for those with ghosted ads is to delete the ad entirely and reconstruct it from the ground up.
